  • About this course
  • Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
  • The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide an advanced first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

  • Upon completion of this course, the following unit(s) will be issued by ABC Licence Training Pty LTD – RTO 3399
  • HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID014 – Provide advanced First Aid

  • Training requirements​
  • Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios.
  • Assessment requirements​
  • Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and practical assessments including first aid and advanced resuscitation techniques. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment.
  • Course renewal requirements​
  • The statement of attainment is valid for 3 years*.

About this course

  • Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in a remote or isolated site over an extended period of time until medical assistance is provided, or evacuation occurs.
  • This unit applies to any site where medical assistance is likely to be delayed. First aid is to be provided in line with guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies

  • About this course
  • Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to administer restricted analgesics to provide pain management as part of a medically supervised first responder organisation.
  • It includes identifying the need for analgesia; accessing, preparing and administering restricted pain relief such as analgesics according to medically endorsed protocols; performing casualty handovers and completing analgesic use requirements.
  • The course is applicable for personnel from emergency services, volunteer organisations or organisations that provide a medically supervised first aid service.

  • Assessment requirements​
  • Assessment activities will include completion of a first aid incident report form and medication register. In addition, learners will be required to participate in practical scenarios including effective use of pain management and handover to paramedics.

About this course

Students completing this course will be able to identify and provide a first aid response to anaphylaxis, develop strategies to prevent exposure to known allergens and minimize risks related to anaphylaxis.

In addition, this course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to be able to develop an asthma management strategy and provide asthma-related first aid interventions in the workplace.

Students will gain the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
